Swim Nappy Low Down

Swim Nappy Low Down

The internet has said it before and I’ll say it again, ALL swim nappies are created to hold solid poos, NOT wees. If you have a swim nappy with added layers to catch pee it’s not a swim nappy. The whole purpose of a swim nappy is to contain as much poo as possible but be lightweight on baby’s bum while they swim.

Why don’t our nappies have a PUL (Polyurethane laminated waterproof layer)?

After thorough testing and research, we learnt that the PUL layer created these problems

  • Would trap water in the nappy making it heavier and uncomfortable for babies
  • More chafing & inner thigh rashes
  • It took longer for the nappy to dry
  • Didn’t ensure poos stayed in anymore than without the PUL layer

If you’ve got a reusable swim nappy that has a PUL layer and it works for you then go for it. I’ve heard some say they don’t have issues or prefer it. That’s cool. But a PUL layer is not a must have and from our personal experience and research was not helpful.

Our nappies are double layered with soft athletic jersey fabric on the inside. They have no PUL layer so they allow liquids to pass through freely keeping the nappy light on babies so they can swim without the added weight and pool up of water.  They dry quickly! And they do what they’re supposed to - catch poos.

Again, the purpose of a swim nappy is to catch as much poo as possible while being functional in the water. That means allowing all liquids to pass through.
